Jessica Jiyeon releases “Book Of Love”!

After shocking with furry themed teaser photos earlier this week & surviving the end of the world in her latest hit “Our Story”, Jessica’s highly anticipated second mini album “Book Of Love” is now available!

The album (executively produced by legendary producer Lee Seung Hyun, known for his work with K-R&B superstar Insooni) varies vastly from last year’s break-up themed “Girl Without A Heart”. Instead of lamenting over a broken relationship for the entire album, Jessica alternatively crafts six individual love stories.

The album acts as a romance themed omnibus with each song (or ‘chapter’) taking the listener on a journey through various stages of the mind & heart of a woman in love.

The aggressively honest opener “Our Story” (featuring Wheesung protégé Ailee) kicks things off, setting the tone for the rest of the tracks by placing emphasis on emotion with its powerful lyrics & attention grabbing chorus.

Shadows” is a hot & steamy mid tempo that has Jessica taking the role of seductress, leading her man from the front door to the bedroom where she wants to watch nothing but their shadows moving in perfect synchronicity.

The striking duet “Two Hearts”, featuring A-Cube power vocalist Huh Gak, tells the story of two long distance lovers longing to be together again. But due to unforeseen circumstances have nothing but their words and a promise of unending love to get them through.

Next up is the manic “La La”, with IU & rapper/producer Cho PD. The lyrics are an ode to the frenzied & obsessive feelings one experiences in the beginning of a relationship [“When I woke up I wanted to call you/Did you have a good night’s rest?/What did you dream about?/Was I there?/Did you miss me?”] followed by the ultimate crash back to reality when it all becomes too much [“You swept in like a tsunami/You’re no better for me than alcohol & nicotine/You’re like a puppy in love.”].

The tone shifts with the sweet acoustic “Say I”. The song’s pure lyrics [co-written by Wi-Fi leader Danny - about two people feeling true love for the first time but being unsure who should say “I Love You” first] combined with Jessica’s light yet affective delivery are a treat for the senses, along with the flurry of energetic strings that occupy the song’s latter half.

The album wraps with the especially candid “To Him” (co-written by K.Will and Jessica herself). “To Him” is an all out, throw caution to the wind, free-for-all that has Jessica baring her soul about a love so freeing it’s made her feel like an entirely new person.
