Tiffany Taeyeon named the JonBenét Ramsey of Asia

Not only is the vanishing of Tiffany Taeyeon the hottest issue of the year in Korea, it's also making headlines around the globe.

American news network CNN recently aired a television special on the shocking event, investigating the idol's mysterious disappearance and the effect that it's had on Asia's media. The network boldly dubbed Tiffany, "the JonBenét Ramsey of Asia", comparing the media whirlwind that her disappearance has caused to American pageant darling Ramsey, whose unsolved murder in 1996 gripped the nation and went on to become one of the most talked-about and heavily-reported stories in the US media in the 1990s.

JonBenét before her tragic death
Tiffany's background (she's half-French) has also helped fuel heavy coverage of her rumored death in France and other parts of Europe, in addition to Australia, which is where she was flying back from when her plane vanished.

But all the global headlines are nothing compared to the storm that's been caused back home in Korea. Since news of her disappearance broke, the singer has consistently remained in the top three search terms on all of Korea's major search portals, while reports on the ongoing investigation have yet to leave covers of the country's magazines and newspapers.

The scandal has also caused a huge sales surge for all the artists at Tiffany's agency, White Entertainment. According to industry experts, HyunA Knowles' first album Bunny's First Love received a sales spike of 60% following Tiffany's disappearance, while various releases from Girls' Revolution, Suzy Sooyoung, and Jessica Jiyeon followed behind with similar boosts. Even White's sister company KRS Media has benefited from the intense media interest, with rookie boy band Wi-Fi receiving a surge in digital sales, while chart analysts claim that new girl group White Dolls had higher than expected debut sales for a rookie act, citing the 'Tiffany Ripple Effect' as the reason.

The biggest sales surge belongs to Tiffany herself though, whose recent digital single "I Love You" with B.A.P. shot from No. 123 on the GAON charts to No. 7 the week following her disappearance, and has yet to leave the top 10 since. Additionally, her Japanese album with bandmate Jessica Jiyeon 'Absolute First Album' has returned to the top 10 in Japan, while initially reaching the top five in Korea from imported sales alone. White Entertainment have since released the album through Korean digital music portals to meet the demand.

White Entertainment are rumored to be taking full advantage of current interest in Tiffany with several posthumous music releases, an upcoming star-studded tribute album, lucrative CF deals, and an animated series called "Tiffany Taeyeon: Jungle Girl Adventures" about Tiff's life being marooned on a deserted island. K-Scandal magazine also report that White will be launching multiple product lines under Tiffany's name, including lingerie, perfumes, survival gear, parachutes, clothing lines, dried beef jerky, and more.

Netizens had a lot to say about the Tiffany news, rushing to our forum and commenting: "I'm glad they will continue Tiffany's legacy with all these different products. I know it's what she would want," "I miss you Tiffany flawless beauty queen, you are definitely the JonBenet of Korea." and "Everybody hated Tiffany before, but now that she's dead everyone wants to pretend they loved her. Well I still hate her and I always will."

HyunA Knowles talks about career and abs in Men’s Health magazine

To celebrate their 6th anniversary (March 2012 edition), Men’s Health searched for the best fitness icon to represent their brand. After much deliberation, they concluded that the best choice to grace to this special edition would be none other than “Supermodel Idol” HyunA Knowles, who has caught the attention of the Korean public with her taught and toned physique.

HyunA recently sent hearts aflutter with her transformation from a scantily-clad K-Diva into an innocent aegyo princess, but for this issue, the Indian beauty has returned to her old image in order to show off her enviable body. Sporting a sexy grey workout outfit with her hair loosely tied, HyunA is pictured working up a sweat as she does rigorous ab crunches and runs on the treadmill in high heels, causing her bust to bounce up and down.

After the photo session, HyunA sat down for an in-depth interview about her body, her career, and her personal life. Below are some excepts of the interview that are available at Men’s Health official website.

-

Hello HyunA. How do you feel about being selected as the Men's Health cover girl for our 6th anniversary special edition issue?

I was very excited when Trina unnie said that Men’s Health wanted me to become their cover girl. I have graced many covers of many magazines, but to grace the cover of Men's Health is different and feels super special because it shows that I am much healthier than other idols, like Ham Eunjung and miss A's Suzy.

Our male staff felt swollen by seeing your body in such small outfits. It's so hard nowadays to find women with such stunning abs like yours. How did you develop it?

Well, my toned body was made over the years through participating in school sports such as gymnastics and soccer, and I've kept it through weight lifting and daily work out, as well as practicing my outrageous dance routines. I definitely work hard to keep my body like this, unlike Tiffany and Suzy, who just starve themselves to stay thin.

Soccer and weight lifting? Really? It’s my first time hearing a female idol doing that. But I must say the outcome is worth it. Anyway, you’ve released your first full-length album and received a lot of success with your new song. Please tell us more about it.

My debut album Bunny’s First Love spawned two top ten hits and the title track even won a music program trophy, so it definitely received a lot of love from fans and netizens. It is really hard to win for most rookies since a lot of groups are getting bigger and many companies keep debuting new groups. With this album, I wanted to ditch the rookie title and sit on the same level as successful soloists like IU and Huh Gak. But now that I’m this successful, I guess I’m even higher than them now, right? I must be on the top-tier of soloists along with Lee Hyori and Rain.

Umm.. I guess. Next question, it’s official that Girls’ Revolution have reunited and you have joined as the new member. Are you excited about it?

When we were working on my new album, I had a gamble with Trina unnie. My album over-costed the company and Trina unnie said we can’t continue on it. But I insisted the project must go on  no matter what happen. I said to her that if this album blows the chart, I want to be the first priority of White and become the member of Girls’ Revolution. Trina asked back that if this album flops, I have to forgo my solo career, transfer to KRS Media and join KellyRose’s new group White Dolls. I didn’t want that to happen so I worked really hard and did everything I can to make sure this album’s success.

How the original members feel about you? Is there any of them who’s unhappy?

Well, I think they are very grateful for my addition to the group. I mean, let’s be honest, I am the reason that Girls’ Revolution reunited again. Tiffany and Jessica unnies seemed a little bit bitter at first, especially when my songs charted higher than theirs, but we worked it all out. I gave Tiffany unnie some of my leftovers and promised Jessica unnie that she will have writing credits on my next album, even though she isn't a songwriter. As for Suzy unnie, she’s the happiest one. Her Korean songs did average on the chart and her China promotion was just so-so, Girls’ Revolution’s comeback is the thing she needs the most.

Wow, you have so much self-confidence. Anyway, and how is the preparation of Girl’s Revolution’s comeback after Tiffany Taeyeon went missing? Do all of you feel sad and devastated?

We feel so devastated about it. Jessica unnie believes that Tiffany is dead and rotting at the bottom of the ocean alongside Aaliyah and John F. Kennedy Jr. The deaths are very similar, as all the planes went missing and crashed into the ocean. But me and Suzy unnie believe Tiffany is still alive, trapped on a remote island just like on the TV show Lost. She was days away from her album release when she went missing, so I think her disappearance was sabotage. Many police officers have been interviewing suspects, and the atmosphere at White is very tense. Girls' Revolution will reunite once Tiffany is safe and has released her solo album, but just in case Jessica is right and she's dead, we will add new members and come back as a new and improved Girls' Revolution. I hear Boram and Qri will be fired from T-ara soon, so maybe they can audition for us.

Honestly, I don’t know any of Girls’ Revolution song but I’m pumped for your group’s comeback!

Full interview and pictorials are available at Men’s Health March issue, on newsstands now.

Fans commented, "It was rude of her to diss miss A's Suzy and Ham Eunjung, but what she said was the truth," "What a body, I would put my hands all over it, beginning with the bust and then working down to the abs and below," and "What music program did HyunA win? Music On Top?"

HyunA is currently wrapping up her promotions with a goodbye stage on this weekend's episode of “Inkigayo”, and is also making appearances on variety shows. On top of that, she continues to live up to her supermodel status by walking the runway to promote 4minute's new fashion line, which is currently available exclusively in K-Mart.

Check out HyunA’s amazing physique below and remember to wipe away the drool, or any other liquids your body may produce.

BREAKING NEWS: White Entertainment's Tiffany Taeyeon reported missing

The popular singer and her entourage were last seen boarding a private plane to fly back to Seoul from Melbourne, Australia, where Tiffany had just wrapped production on multiple music videos for her upcoming single "Do Da Disco".

Little information is known about the situation just yet, but AKF have obtained a recording of a phone call made from the plane just minutes before it went missing. According to the call, made by Tiffany to White CEO Trina Villota, Tiffany and the other passengers had been drinking and partying, and had urged the pilot to fly over the Bermuda Triangle as a dare. Air traffic control tracked the aircraft as it headed towards the mysterious location, before it seemingly vanished into thin air.

Other passengers on board included celebrity hairstylist Ongina Palao, personal assistant Jordin Mahogany, music video director Tasha Richards, and four male backup dancers, Jacques Sarkozy, Tiago Lopez, Anthony Jackson, and Elma Xiou.

Rescue boats & choppers have been dispatched in the area, but so far nothing has been found.

Authorities have also opened up an official investigation after a White Entertainment warehouse containing finished copies of Tiffany’s album ‘Friday Night Fever’ was burned to the ground on the same day as the plane vanished. Police suspect that the fire was set deliberately, and could be related to the disappearance as a possible plot to kill Tiffany and prevent her album from being released.

Trina Villota was too distraught to give an official statement on the matter, so we spoke to White Co-CEO KellyRose Spires, who held an official press conference just hours ago.

“The staff & artists at White & KRS Media are devastated, but hopeful that Tiffany & the others will make it home safely.”

“Unfortunately,” she continued, “the warehouse fire not only destroyed all the finished copies of Tiffany’s album, but also the computers that held all the artwork on file. The only other copy of the album was on a laptop which Tiffany had with her at the time of her disappearance, so for the time being, the release of Friday Night Fever has been postponed indefinitely.”

“My colleague Trina Villota is currently recovering in hospital after suffering from severe anxiety attacks brought on by this tragic news,” said KellyRose. “But I speak for her when I say that White Entertainment are 100% certain that Tiffany’s disappearance is the result of foul play and sabotage, and we are working closely with the authorities to ensure that Tiffany is found and the culprit is brought to justice. We have already provided the Seoul Police Department with a long list of suspects, which includes Will.i.am, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, T-ara's Qri, Lady Jane, Tila Caffarelli, Song Ji Eun, and BIGBANG’s Daesung, who was investigated for murder just last year.”

“As the search for Tiffany and her killer continues, fans can contribute by supporting White Entertainment and KRS Media’s robust catalog. Titles currently available for physical and digital purchase include Jessica Jiyeon's "Girl Without A Heart", Suzy Sooyoung’s “A Very Suzy-licious Christmas”, HyunA Knowles’ “A Bunny’s Dream”, Wi-Fi’s debut mini-album "Everywhere", and BAP&TIFFANY’s “I Love You”. Thank you."

Netizens had this to say about the tragedy:
"This was certainly caused by Aaliyah's troubled spirit. She is making sure we don't forget her.", "First Amy, then Whitney, and now Tiffany. It seems any female singer with a 'Y' at the end of their name will meet a cruel fate. Please take care, Suzy.", and "I know Tiffany is probably dead, but can White just release her album anyway? The teaser sounded hot."

Please keep an eye on AKF for more updates as they develop.
