2011 was both a turbulent & rewarding year for White Entertainment that saw the rise & fall of Girls’ Revolution, the imprisonment of ex CEO Park Su Kang, & individual success of its artists. “Rocker Princess” takes on Japan

via TokyoDive

With Rocker Princess a veritable blockbuster in South Korea [at the time of this article’s posting the film was sitting strong at #12, with a total box office draw of 35,738,409,626 KRW - roughly $30.1 million USD - made off a mere $2 million USD production budget], the studio decided it was time to move the hit film over to the Land of the Rising Sun to capitalize on Jessica Jiyeon’s growing fame with Heathers.

The musical went up against the 5th entry of the popular Fast and the Furious franchise as well Moteki, and managed to take 2nd place with 1,125,317,656 YEN [$14,721,661 USD].

Positive reviews for the film have carried over to Japan as well, with Megami Robishu {aka the "Roger Ebert of Japan"} writing a glowing review on his popular blog. Quote:

“It’s not often you find a film that takes a well-worn fairytale like Cinderella & gives it a legitimately fresh spin. In all my years of reviewing films geared toward the modern younger set, this is the first one I can honestly say I not only enjoyed immensely from start to finish, but would gladly see again without hesitation.”

Heathers cause a scandal with red carpet fashion flop

Girls' Revolution's J-Pop sub-unit Heathers have been labelled "desperate" and "offensive" by the Japanese media.

Heathers' duo Jessica Jiyeon and Tiffany Taeyeon strutted their stuff on the red carpet yesterday at the opening of Tokyo Fashion Week, but their stylish ensembles have failed to impress local fashion critics. On this morning's episode of Idol Fashion Police, celebrity fashion bloggers Mademoiselle Yulia and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu singled out the K-Pop duo as the worst dressed stars of the night.

"Let's start with blondie first," said Yulia, live on-air. "This look might be cute for an afternoon picnic, but on the red carpet at Fashion Week? You've got to be kidding me. It's like a joke, but nobody's laughing."

"I totally agree with you," Kyary responded. "I can't for the life of me understand what possessed her to wear this on the red carpet. She has ballet flats on for God's sake! It almost feels like she tried to personally attack Japanese culture by under-dressing at one of our country's most prestigious events; it's as if she's saying, 'I don't care about Japan or Japanese fashion, so I'm not going to put any effort into my look.' Frankly, I was offended."

After cruelly laying into Jessica, the fashion critics turned their attention over to her bandmate, Tiffany Taeyeon.

"Okay, now let me start off by saying that the actual outfit is nowhere near as bad as Jessica's was," said Kyary. "Tiffany seems to understand that this is a red carpet event and not afternoon tea, and she's dressed accordingly, but I feel like her look is more Milan or Paris Fashion Week than it is Tokyo Fashion Week. I mean, does she even know that she's in Japan? Didn't Heathers have a hit here recently with that awful Shady song? She needed less Euro in her look, and more Oriental. Tiffany's acting like every other Korean Idol by coming here and using us to make money, while refusing to accept any of our culture. Ugh."

"That's your biggest problem, Kyary?" chimed in Yulia. "You haven't mentioned the hair! That's the biggest crime here. I look at the Galliano platform shoes and I love them, then I look up at her head and I just think to myself, 'What were you thinking?' The whole head-shaving thing is so three years ago now -- it was like Tiffany was racking her pea-brain to find any cheap stunt she could to snatch the spotlight on the red carpet, but it completely backfired. If she were Cassie in Milan four years ago, then maybe this whole look would have worked, but today? Fail."

"It was definitely desperate," Kyary responded. "For Tiffany it's about the attention, not the art. I was at the event yesterday, and I saw Tiff working the red carpet for over an hour, posing for pictures and talking to every reporter that she could find, but when she was finally finished, she didn't even go inside to see the show! I saw her get back into her waiting limo and drive off, leaving Jessica to go in alone."

After naming Tiffany and Jessica as the worst dressed of the night, Kyary and Yulia gave Japanese singer Koda Kumi and Idol group AKB48 the best dressed honor. The pair praised Kumi's daring red carpet look of a thong bikini with pasties and thigh-high boots, and were impressed with AKB48's matching school uniforms.

Moments after Idol Fashion Police finished, Korean Netizens who had been streaming the program online flooded message boards to vent their objections over the harsh criticism that the Heathers received, with many accusing Kyary and Yulia of being racist towards Koreans.

Comments included, "They have a bias against Korea! They're FILTHY ANTIS!", "Jessica and Tiffany obviously went for a dual concept look -- Jess was soft and innocent, and Tiff was dark and more structured -- clearly these so-called fashion experts missed the whole point," and "These whale killers are just pressed that the Hallyu wave is taking over their ugly sumo country and that Koreans are outshining all their artists on the charts. HEATHERS FIGHTING!"

It looks like Heathers' trip down the red carpet is about to become a bigger deal than they ever could have imagined! Stay tuned to AKF as this controversial story evolves.

Netizens choose their idol best friends

Last week AllKFlop.com posted a question asking: “who would you choose as your idol best friend?”. With a resounding 3,734 votes White Entertainment’s Jessica Jiyeon came out on top as the clear winner!

Jessica’s easy going nature, extreme humbleness, & well documented work with Korea Cares left a great impression in the hearts of fans everywhere, with netizens commenting: “With everything she’s been through this year the fact that she can put it aside, put on a smile, and help others is inspiring to me!”, “She’s so open & comforting. I feel like I can tell her anything”, “Bubble tea soul sisters 4EVA!!!”, “No matter how much is put in her way she continues on. JESSICA FIGHTING!”

In 2nd place was Dream High actress & “Good Day” singer IU, followed by 2NE1’s Dara in 3rd, miss A’s Jia in 4th & After School’s Raina in 5th.

At the bottom of the list, Jessica’s Heathers group mate Tiffany Taeyeon received only two votes and several negative comments, with many voicing their thoughts on her recent opinions toward her fellow idols, her growing ego, and worsening body issues: “Sure she’s pretty but that’s it”, “Maybe she should worry less about her weight & more about how she comes off to others. All the pretty in the world can’t cover a sour attitude”, “She should take the time to better her Japanese. Has anyone else seen the recent footage of Heathers at Universal Studios Japan? She just stumbled around the stage like a bad Rihanna impersonator, as the backing track did most of the rapping SMH”, “I pity any idols who have to put their peers down to feel better about themselves…but not enough to vote for her!”

Tiffany Taeyeon and Jessica Jiyeon look like mother and daughter?

[Via Tokyo-Dive]

Heathers duo Tiffany Taeyeon and Jessica Jiyeon recently filmed a special segment on Japanese variety show J-P!NGO to mark the end of their debut album promotions.

The popular Korean beauties revisited the original location that they shot their 'Absolute First Album' artwork in, where they discussed their Japanese debut over an afternoon snack of green tea and raw sushi. The episode isn't due to air until next week, but an official promotional photo has already caught the attention of netizens. In the photo, Tiffany can be seen exuding a youthful glow with minimal makeup, a pink butterfly tank top, and her golden blonde locks tied into charming pigtails. Jessica towers above her in a large antique chair, sporting a classic grandfather-style bowler hat, paired with a revealing frilled bra and skimpy hot pants that illuminate her womanly curves. Her hands are clasped firmly in her lap, giving off a mature aura similar to a stern school principle. The difference in the girls' looks has netizens likening them to a mother and daughter, rather than a top-selling idol duo!

The picture quickly became a No. 1 item on Asian search portals, attracting many comments from Japanese uncle fans like, "Tiffany looks so young and supple, just like my precious little angels AKB48," "The younger, the better," and "She still looks too old."

While uncle fans were sent into a frenzy by Tiffany's youthful looks, netizens had a different take on the Heathers' look.

"They really do look like mother and daughter. They should join my family!", "Tiffany's aegyo is immature and annoying. I prefer Jessica's womanly charms." and "Jessica only looks older because of her many surgeries, but I'm glad she got them because it's how she got that hourglass figure that I love."

Tiffany is due to return to Korea soon to begin work on several projects, while Jessica will remain in Japan to promote the local release of Rocker Princess.

Jessica Jiyeon: "Suzy saved my life"

Heathers appeared on the latest episode of Strong Heart along with Sunny Hill this week. While Tiffany Taeyeon entertained the crowd with a story of her attempt to secure an autograph from SHINee's Jonghyun by dressing up as a giant panda & dancing to "Love Like Oxygen" for his birthday during her trainee days, it was Jessica Jiyeon’s confession involving Suzy Sooyoung that shocked the audience.

Jessica recounted one harrowing night shortly before Girls’ Revolution’s debut when, while making her way into the dorm, she was accosted by a man in a ski mask.

He pulled me into this little hallway that connected our dorm to the elevators & put his hand over my mouth.” she recalled “He had a knife against my chest. It was the most frightening thing I’ve ever gone through.”

I couldn’t even scream for help…” she said softly, as tears began to fall down her face. Sunny Hill’s Janghyun passed her his gold & fuchsia handkerchief as she continued “Suddenly, he’s yanked away from me! I was so stunned by what had just happened it took me a second to realize Suzy had arrived, grabbed him by his shirt collar, & flung him to the ground! She was attacking him with all her might!

After she finished her story, host Lee Seung Gi gave her a chance to send Suzy a message.

Suzy…I never say it enough, but your unnie really does love you. You’re like the little sister I never had. Thank you for being you. Thank you for saving my life.

Heathers promote in Japan and debut on the Oricon Charts!

Hot new group the Heathers have spent the past week in Japan promoting their debut J-Pop debut 'Absolute First Album'.

The K-Pop duo have proven to be a big hit with Japanese fans, debuting at No. 9 on the official ORICON charts with their spring-themed single "Shady Girl". Their album has also done well, debuting one spot lower at No. 10, giving the pair two top entries and showing the popularity of Hallyu in Japan.

Speaking to our sister site TokyoDive, Heathers member Tiffany Taeyeon says, "When we first decided to debut in Japan before Korea, we were scared. Me and Jessica were worried that the fans would view us as strangers since all our individual success has been in Korea, but as soon as we began our promotions the Japanese fans gave us loud cheers and made us feel loved."

"The response has been wonderful," adds Jessica Jiyeon. "I'm part-Japanese, so to be accepted over here is extra special for me. To debut in the top ten fills me with happiness, and I promise to work hard alongside Tiffany to sustain the Heathers' success and show even better results in the future."

"Heathers will overtake all other K-Pop groups in Japan!" laughs Tiffany. "We are the most talented and beautiful. Fighting!"

To achieve their powerful results on the chart, Heathers have been working hard all week with non-stop promotional activities. To give Korean fans an insight into their Japanese schedules, the pair uploaded several charming photos of their promotions to their official Korean website.

The first photo shows the Heathers posing in Tokyo as they make their way to an official fan meet. The second is a curious and charming photo of Tiffany Taeyeon riding a robotic Panda on a variety show, and the third photo is from their "Shady Boy" performance on Music Japan.

The photos have already stirred interest from Netizens, due to the Heathers Harajuku fashion styles.

Comments included, "The Heathers must be really eager to chart in Japan if they wore those hideous clothes," "When will they leave stupid Japan and release the album in Korea?" and "Yay for Heathers and Hallyu! Korea is number one best country in the world, and most charming!"

The Heathers are now preparing to head back home for a few weeks to work on their individual Korean schedules, and will then return to Japan to continue their album promotions with a second single. A release date for the Korean version of Absolute First Album has yet-to-be announced.

Jessica Jiyeon covers Leona Lewis & talks about her break up on Mega Seoul FM

With the Heathers' debut Japanese album Absolute First Album now available, Jessica Jiyeon dropped in on Choi-La & Aok at Mega Seoul FM for a quick chat before departing for Tokyo to begin promotions with Tiffany Taeyeon.

After wowing the room & listeners with a cover of Leona LewisCollide, Choi-La & Aok centered in on Jessica's recent heartbreak. The singer attempted to avoid the barrage of questions by smiling & focusing on Absolute First Album, before finally giving in.

It was the first real relationship I ever had.”, Jessica revealed “It was so frustrating having everyone telling me to run. Maybe I stayed as an act of rebellion.”

Aok, known for his confrontational interview tactics, then asked about her alleged feud with 2NE1 leader & rumored mistress of Teddy Park, CL.

JESSICA: “What? Where are you getting your information from? There is no bad blood between CL & I. And I know for a fact there is nothing going on between her & Teddy. Besides, 2NE1 are just as busy as Heathers, if not more! Why go from one relationship where things are too manic to work to another?

Choi-La tried to move the conversation forward but Aok returned to the breakup.

AOK: “So you say you stayed with Teddy as an act of rebellion…huh, that seems to run in your family. Wasn’t your stepfather & ex White Entertainment Chairman Park Su Kang recently arrested for tax evasion? And on top of that, aren’t the current CEOs his ex mistress & an ex drug addict turned mobster’s wife? White Entertainment are a joke! Trina Villota and KellyRose Spires should be run out of Seoul for their scandalous pasts!

Jessica kept her composure throughout the inquisition and responded with: “I’m really excited for this album. Tiffany & I worked really hard on it. I hope it’s a success.”, before thanking the two & saying her goodbyes as she was ushered out of the room by a handler.

Netizens responded negatively to attack: “Too far Aok”, “Wow…I would have decked him!”, “She sounded better than Leona. Screw you Aok!”, “She handled things like a pro. I‘m proud of her.”

Girls' Revolution sub-unit 'Heathers' announce their Japanese "Shady Boy" debut!

After months of speculation, the rumored Girls' Revolution sub-unit has been confirmed!

Comprising of leader Tiffany Taeyeon and vocalist Kelly Park of the now-defunct Girls' Revolution, Heathers will make their official debut in Japan on August 7 with the release of their first single "Shady Boy".

The duo will also release their first full-length album 'Absolute First Album' on the same day.

Trina Villota, CEO of the Heathers' agency White Entertainment, had this so say about their comeback:

"Fans were disappointed when Girls' Revolution broke up, so we decided to create a special sub-unit to carry on the group's legacy."

"Tiffany and Kelly have been working hard for months to prepare for their debut. They've spent endless hours in the studio recording to ensure that their new music surpasses the quality of Girls' Revolution. They've trained hard in both singing and dancing to show a greater improvement in their upcoming live performances, so we ask that you please anticipate their debut."

"We will be targeting Japan first to avoid having to compete with Super Junior's 'Mr. Simple' promotions, but a Korean version of the Heathers 'Absolute First Album' is due out in the near future. We hope that the Korean fans can be patient while the Heathers undertake their Japanese activities."

To hype up fans for their debut, the Heathers have released several mysterious teaser photos that are guaranteed to shock with their dark imagery. In the pics, the Heathers can be seen posing in a dimly-lit bathroom; both of them are dressed provocatively in matching black mini-dresses, high heels, and suggestive blonde 'Britney Spears-style' hair.

The photos have sent netizens into a frenzy, causing debate and argument over their true meaning.

"These pictures are shocking to me. They must be planning to debut with a very edgy sound and style, but have they gone too far?" "Thank God they aren't going for a cute aegyo style. Heathers fighting!" and "I was a fan of Girls' Revolution, so I am very excited for the Heathers! I just hope one day they can all stand on the stage as three again."

Tiffany Taeyeon holiday photo sparks anger from netizens

A new candid beach photo of former Girls' Revolution leader Tiffany Taeyeon became a hot topic over the weekend.

The photo shows Tiffany sporting a new vintage look, exposing her charms in a low-cut swimsuit as she relaxes on a mystery beach in Panama. After the photo leaked online this past weekend, it caused an angry reaction from netizens, who have questioned the star's work ethic.

"Why is she on a vacation? I thought she was meant to do a new album with Kelly."

"She looks pretty, but I am upset that she would go on a holiday and continue to push her new album back."

"Tiffany never works anymore. All she focuses on is inventing cute looks, but I am tired of it now."

Despite the negative reaction from certain netizens, the photo ranked No. 1 on search portals for two consecutive days, proving to be more popular than stories of 2NE1's Inkigayo return and Super Junior's "Mr. Simple" teaser photos.

Following the controversial reaction to the photo, AllKFlop contacted Tiffany's agency White Entertainment for an exclusive statement.

"Tiffany was feeling overwhelmed with the pressure of returning to music after such a long hiatus," said White co-CEO Trina Villota. "We thought it would be best to send her on a short holiday so she could rest and relax before her advancement into Japan with her bandmate Kelly Park. We did not intend for news of her holiday to get out, but we are grateful for your interest and ask that you please support Tiffany in her comeback."

While Tiffany enjoys her holiday, former Girls' Revolution vocalist Kelly Park has been working hard on several projects, including solo music, CFs, and even a movie.

"I can't just wait around for Tiffany," Kelly told AKF at the premiere of 'White: The Melody of the Curse' on Monday. "I have a movie coming out that I'm very excited about. It's still a secret, but please anticipate it."

So what do you think netizens? Are you still looking forward to Tiffany and Kelly's duo project, or do you want to see Kelly do more acting instead?
