SBS announce cast for upcoming drama “Company”!

SBS have revealed the cast list and synopsis for their upcoming weekend drama “Company”!

Adapted from the controversial bestseller “Bed Him, Wed Him, and Shed Him: A Smart Girl’s Guide to Dating in Seoul”, “Company” {formerly “Carpe Diem”} tells the story of care-free yet unlucky in love Ji Young (Jessica Jiyeon) who balances an on again/off again relationship with her college boyfriend Jung Min (Jung Il Woo), an affair with her boss Dong Hyun (Yoon Kye Sang), and a growing attraction to her best friend’s older brother Chun Ho (Zo In Sung).

Rounding out the rest of the cast are Park Min Woo as Tae Hoon: Ji Young’s college dropout brother turned actor who harbors a longtime crush on her best friend & roommate Ha Eun (Park Han Byul), while fighting the affections of his co-star & netizen approved “girlfriend” Kim Mi (Dal Shabet’s Jiyul).

Former After School leader Kahi makes her return to television as a woman with a hidden agenda attached to Chun Ho; MBLAQ’s Lee Joon will appear as Kim Mi’s Casanova co-star & Tae Hoon’s romantic rival for Ha Eun’s heart; and U-KissKiseop will make his acting debut as Tae Hoon’s sex obsessed best friend.

The drama promises to tear down clichéd sex driven storylines and instead offer a smart, fast paced adult oriented comedy that will hook the audience with its honesty. The show’s main PD Bae Kang Ho had this to say:

Most romantic comedies are built around the tried & true formula of ‘Dashing leading man + plucky/desperate leading lady sprinkled with light tragedy and/or comedic high jinks with a possible hand hold or a kiss by the midway point (if you’re lucky) with several misdirections, and a giant too-good-to-be-real declaration in the end’. Lather, rinse, and repeat.

“Company” aims to sidestep the lead up by showing adults dealing with situations like adults, and not lovesick, inexperienced teenagers.

Not everyone falls in love; not everyone WANTS to fall in love, or wait for that perfect one. Playing the field is crucial and decidedly human. By presenting that in a way that won’t offend, we’re promising a fresh take on the equivalent of a knock-knock joke.”

Company” is set to premiere on October 27th at 9:55 PM. Keep an eye on AKF for more.
