A few weeks ago SBS unveiled the first volume OST for their hit summer drama Cliffside Moon. Today, they’ve unleashed the powerful second volume!
Starting things off is the acoustic ballad “The Hurt”. Sung by show star Jessica Jiyeon, the ballad is the polar opposite of the upbeat and hopeful “Under The Same Sky” (found on Cliffside Moon OST vol.1), which was in a catchy pop-rock style resonant of Jessica’s Rocker Princess days. “The Hurt” is backed only by a single guitar with assistance from the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra who help flesh out the song by adding another layer of lush & dramatic instrumentation to the already sorrowful ballad.
The lyrics accurately describe not only the failed relationship of Hani & Aaron (played by actor Kim Jin Woo) but also of the emotional scar given to Hani by her neglectful father Seo Joon (played by actor Han Suk Kyu):
“Because of you, I shed tears
Because of the tears, my heart is bruised
In my heart that is about to crumble,
There is a scar that is greater than a scar”
In other news, Cliffside Moon has exceeded SBS’ predictions, retaining the number one position for Wednesday and Thursday nights the last four straight weeks; holding its position with an estimated 18% viewership rating! With only five episodes left until the finale, will the popular drama maintain its lead, or be surpassed by competition "The Master's Sun" and "Two Weeks"?
Keep an eye on AKF to find out!
